Product Development in China
Background:
This project involves developing a new product line for an Australian company. The goal is to create 14 products from scratch, with prototypes ready for exhibition within a short time frame and sales targets to meet after six months.
Challenges:
1.Designing and developing 14 completely new products
2.Creating prototypes for exhibition purposes
3.Tight timeline for meeting sales deadlines after 6 months
Lean solutions:
- 1.Identify the Right Manufacturer:
- Partner with a manufacturer that has an established, professional R&D team capable of developing detailed design drawings from initial concepts.
2. Parallel Prototyping & Molding:
Initiate prototyping and the initial stages of the molding process simultaneously to shorten the product development timeline.
3. Tooling Process Monitoring:
Oversee the tooling process closely to ensure the production of high-quality, off-tool samples that meet the required standards.
4. Pilot Run Distribution:
Distribute small quantities from the pilot run for customer to use in retail store presentation meetings, gaining early feedback and generating exposure at exhibition.
5. Quality Control in Mass Production:
Implement stringent quality control measures during mass production to maintain consistency and meet product standards.
